The Senior Pastor has the responsibility for oversight of the church and the equipping of the congregation to take active roles in the various ministries. Sweet Home seeks a leader whose lifestyle matches his testimony; a character as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. Sweet Home desires a Senior Pastor who will strengthen the church with leadership training and outreach to the surrounding community and churches.
Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church desires that the following areas would be key strengths and passions of the new Senior Pastor, with the recognition that he cannot be all things to all people.
· Proclamation of the Word of God from the pulpit
· Teaching classes
· Encouraging leaders to grow in their love of God and service to his Kingdom
· Promoting fellowship in the church
· Equipping the saints for service in the Kingdom and for evangelism
Pastoral Qualifications
· Has a vital and evident relationship with Jesus Christ
· A minimum of five (5) years experience in ministry with evidence of fruit
· Ordained or eligible to be ordained
· Possess some education from a theological seminary
· Has demonstrated capability at leading, caring for, and developing spiritual maturity in a wide range of personalities and backgrounds
· Have a very clear evidence of belief in the principles of the Baptist faith
· Have a demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver stimulating, theologically sound and inspirational sermons
· Have an unimpeachable personal and professional reputation
· Have a genuine zeal for Christian education
· A love for all age groups and proven capacity to interact with all persons in a spirit of brotherly love
